My Magazine Ad
The first project we did in this class was to recreate a magazine ad using different pictures from magazines. For this project i cut out many pictures from different sports magazines and glued them on a different piece of paper to create a magazine add. I used scissors, glue, paper, magazines, and colored pencils. I first looked for an ad I wanted to recreate. I then took pictures that could relate to this ad and I changed their original ad into my own ad that i created. I cut pictures of NFL running backs and a big picture of an ad showing the speed of a the AT&T phone network and their service. The NFL running backs were supposed to compare to the speed of the AT&T network and how fast they are compared to the network. I glued those pictures onto a seperate piece of paper and then colored the background and I made captions and headings about the ad that related to it. I liked this project and I thought it was a fun project becuase we got to create our own magazine ads. If i was to do this project again i would probably add more color to it and i would make it more organized. I do like the project i did though. I had feedback from class mates telling me that i coulld add color or lines to make it "pop" more. Overall, this was a fun project and i think mine came out to be pretty good.
My Party Flyer
This is the second project that Mr. Adams assigned to my class. In this project we had to create a flyer trying to inspire people to go somewhere. The input factors of this project were to know how to use Microsoft Office Publisher. Mr. Adams tought us how to use all the little things in publisher so we could create this flyer. He taught us how to use clip art, word art, text box. For this project we used the 1/3 rule. What we did was drag 2 lines from the ruler that is above the blank page. I put the first one about 1/3 down the page and the other one about 2/3 down the page. In the upper section of the flye is the title HAUNTED HOUSE. The middle section of the flyer is the details of the event. The details include where it is, when it is, what time it is at, when you have to RSVP and the number to call, and then the basic information about the Haunted House. In the middle section I also put a picture to try to make the flyer look scarier. In the bottom layer of the three I put another picture to try to add more color, detail, and scariness. I didn't really get any feedback on this project. I like this project and it taught me a lot becuase now I know a lot about Microsoft Publisher which could help me a lot in this class, future classes, or later in life. That is what this project was about.
Black&White Flyer
My third assignment in Graphics Engineering class term 1 was to create a flyer trying to get people to go somewhere just like our last project but this one had to be in black & white. The input factors for this project were basically the same as the last one. We had to know how to use Microsoft Office Publisher, which Mr. Adams taught us last project. We also had to know how to put images that were in our flyer into black and white images. First, I opened a new Microsoft Office Publisher and used word art to write the details on the flyer. At the top I wrote Haunted House because that’s what I wanted my flyer to be about. Next, I would go on google images and search haunted houses and I would pick one and make that the background of my flyer. After I had both of these steps done I would make it black and white. It was an invitation to come to a haunted house. On the flyer you would find: the dates, the time, where, what it was. I made this flyer scary and very suspenseful by writing things like come to my party, if you dare… My only feedback was from Nathan Goulet who said, “This looks very scary and I would attend this haunted house”. I learned a lot of things about Microsoft Publisher in this and the other flyer project. In comparison to the other fyler project, I liked this one better it seemed scarier and more interesting. I used lines to show on the flyer where to go. If you look at the flyer you can see arrows pointing where the details are and when you get to the address where to walk which would be through the gate.
My Travel Brouchure
For this project, we went on a field trip. We went to Thayer Street in Providence, Rhode Island. We divided into separate groups and all got assigned a topic. Our project was to go into stores, food places, movie theaters, etc. and try to find places with your topic. Then you would interview the worker and try to get information about that place. I got assigned Entertainment. When we got back to our class our assignment was to create a travel brochure about your topic and add all of the information we found into it. I used several places in my brochure including: Avon Cinema, Brown University Bookstore, and several others. When we got to Thayer Street, Mr. Adams gave us all papers with all the questions that we needed to ask. We had to ask the people and then fill in the paper. My brochure consists of many pictures and details about Thayer Street. I enjoyed this project. I thought going to Thayer Street was a very fun experience. My brochure has a lot of color on it trying to catch the reader’s attention. I enjoyed the topic I had because I like entertainment. There was also a lot of good food and other little shops that I looked around at after I was done with all the entertainment places. That is my brochure and what it is about.
